What Is an FD30 Door?

FD30 stands for fire door 30 minutes, which is the amount of time this door has been tested to withstand house fires. An FD30 door is both fire and smoke resistant for this amount of time and is intended for usage exclusively inside a building; so they should never be installed as external doors.

An FD30 door can make all the difference in the unfortunate event of a house fire, slowing its progress and adding an extra layer of protection between the flames and your family/home.

What is The Difference Between an FD30 and a Regular Internal Door?

A regular internal door offers very low protection between you and a house fire, essentially acting as kindling and doing little to nothing to prevent the spread of the flames. An FD30 internal door boasts a GRP skin and solid timber core that have been fire tested on both the internal and external sides for up to 30 minutes (FD30s). This offers a barrier between you and the spread of the fire, buying more time for emergency service to arrive and limiting the damage to your property.

How Will an FD30 Help My Home?

Our composite fire door range has been third-party tested by CERTIFIRE to withstand fire for up to 30 minutes. Every FD30 door we sell is subject to the Q-Mark security standard and has passed BS476 Part 22 testing as well as the BS EN 1634-3 smoke control test. Each fire door in the collection is made to exacting standards and is certified as secure per PAS024.
